Playing at Bokaa Dam

For eight years, I have heard of Bokaa Dam, a shallow dam located about 45 minutes north of Gaborone. However, in our drought times, I had heard it wasn't much to see. But, in the past few months PRAISE GOD we have had good rains!! A friend suggested we go check it out and it didn't disappoint. We were the only humans for miles (or at least we saw no one else in the 4 hours we were there!) We had a fantastic family day exploring the terrain!

Abi likes to say "Can we do silly faces now?"

I love that my husband knows the land so well. He recognized these wild berries as edible and pulled off nature's snacks for the family to taste!

Even Abi thought the setting sun over the dam was beautiful to look at!

After searching for EVER for rocks, Percy taught the kids to skip rocks. Next time we will take some rocks because after at least a 30 minute search and walking at least half a mile with 5 people looking, we MAY have found 10 rocks!

It all started with abi asking if she could take off her shoes and put her feet in. Next thing we know, the kids are running, splashing and fully playing in the dirty rain water reservoir!

They were wet, filthy, and cold but they still talk about it as one of their favorite memories!
